Easy Vegetable Soup

Ingredients
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil1 onion, diced2 carrots, diced1 green bell pepper, diced1 celery stalk, diced2 cloves garlic, minced1 teaspoon oregano1 teaspoon basil(I added 1 bay leaf.)4 cups chicken broth1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce, or 2 fresh tomatoes, chopped1 / 2 cup alphabet pasta (I used 1 cup elbow noodles)Salt and pepper
Directions
1. Saute vegetables and garlic in olive oil for 5 minutes over medium heat. Stir in the oregano and basil.
2. Add water/broth and bring to a boil. Simmer 15-20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
3. Add tomato sauce and pasta, and simmer gently until pasta is cooked , about 10 minutes.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste before serving, and garnish with parmesan cheese.
