1/2 c. butter1 1/2 c. sugar2 eggs2 Tbsp cocoa1/2 tsp salt2 c. flour1 c. buttermilk1 tsp. baking soda1 Tbsp vinegar1 tsp vanillaIcing:1/2 c. butter3 Tbsp cocoa1 box powdered sugar1/4 c. milk1 tsp vanilla
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time; beat thoroughly. Add cocoa. Combine flour and slat; sift. Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in vinegar and stir quickly. Add to mixture. Mix about 1 to 2 minutes. Bake at 350F for 25 minutes. Makes 2 layers or 1 9x13.
For icing, cream butter with cocoa. Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Ice cake when cool.
