1 tsp black pepper1 tbsp basil 2 medium carrots, diced3 stalks, medium celery, diced1 small onion, diced 2.5 cups split peas 8 cups water1 tsp kosher salt 1 clove garlic, minced1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
Heat oil in a dutch oven over medium-high heat.
Add carrots, celery, and onions and saute for about three minutes. Add garlic and saute for one minute.
Add split peas, pepper, salt, basil, and Italian seasoning.
Add water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for one and a half hours or until desired consistency.
