Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

1T olive oil1 lb round steaksalt and pepper to taste1 onion, sliced1/2 tsp thyme8 ounces tomato sauce1/2 cup water
Season steak with salt and pepper to taste. Heat up the olive oil in a skillet and sear steak on all sides.
Place the meat in the bottom of a Crock-Pot. Now add the onion to the skillet and cook till slightly browned and beginning to turn translucent, about 2 minutes. Add onion to top of the meat.
Season top with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle the thyme evenly. Carefully pour the tomato sauce evenly over the top.
Add 1/2 cup of water to the skillet and heat on high. Using wire whisk, scrape up the little bits of the bottom of the pan and allow the liquid to reduce by half. Add this, too, to the Crock-Pot.
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or so.
