Mom's Spanish Rice

Ingredients
1-1 1/2 lbs ground turkey (or beef)1 1/2 cups chopped onion1 cup chopped green peppers2 jalapeno peppers chopped, seeds removed2 (28 oz) cans whole tomatoes1 cup brown rice1 tbsp sea salt1 tsp garlic powder
Directions
Brown the turkey and onions, seasoning with garlic powder and half the salt.
Add green peppers and jalapenos.
Drain tomatoes reserving liquid.
Crush tomatoes by hand and add to the meat mixture.
Measure the tomato juice, adding 2 cups to the meat mixture.
Add 1 cup brown rice.
Stir well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for approx. 50 minutes until rice is cooked.
Season to taste with remaining salt.
