Marilyns Crockpot Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
1 lb. (approx. 3 C) split peas1 C. chopped onion1 C. chopped celery1/2 C. chopped carrots3 slices turkey bacon1 T. salt1 tsp. pepper2 Bay Leafs1 tsp. Thyme2 C. fat free chicken broth2 C. Water
Directions
Cover the split peas in water and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 min. then let set for 1 hr. Dice and brown turkey bacon in frying pan. Add vegetables, seasoning, water and broth in crockpot. Cook on high 5-6 hr. or until beans are tender
