Warning, this cake is soooo tasty that it is hard to eat one piece! But, I made cupcakes too - so cut the calories into thirds because you are getting 36 servings instead of 12! - 3/29/09

The icing that tops this cake off is one container of cool whip,1 small can of crushed pineapple drained, and 1 envelope of french vanilla pudding, bake cake as directed let cool frost and put in refrigerater overnight. so so good. - 11/14/09

When I made this, I added chopped maraschino cherries. Made it taste like a pineapple upside down cake. - 6/2/11

I made these into cupcakes - i got 32 out of the recipe and then topped them with a mix of cool whip free & 1/2 pkg of cook & serve coconut pudding, ended up being 75 calories per cupcake! Yummy! First baked good in 2 weeks. I'm a happy girl today! - 4/19/10

I made this last night and the kitchen smelled wonderful while this was baking. reminded me of pineapple upside down cake. I did alter the pineapple as Dole now has a sugar free crushed pineapple made with splenda, just as good - 1/30/08

This was so easy and so yummy. Had it for a birthday with reddi whip and light vanilla ice cream and there were no leftovers. Serving size is very generous and satisfying. I used a 9 x 13 glass pan sprayed with butter non stick and only needed 25-30 min and was perfectly cooked. - 5/6/09

you might want to add -- only use metal or glass to mix in. Do not use a plastic bowl or spoons as this will not turn out!

I have been making this for years and it is fantastic! - 6/30/13

Like so many others, I couldn't believe this would actually be this good -- perfect treat for diabetics. I have made it in a large bundt pan and a 9x13 pan and both work great. - 3/29/10

Delish! Will def make again! Nice sweet treat! Doesn't need any additions such as cool whip. Great as is :) - 2/4/13

Making it as cupcakes as a few others had suggested for my sons preschool's class. HIs classmate is allergic to eggs so I was so happy to find this but then I just realized there are eggs in the box ingredients :( - 3/23/11

Delish! I made the cake and used a container of fat free coolwhip with an envelope of SF FF cheesecake instant pudding; mixed with coolwhip and covered over the top of the cake... went to a birthday party and did not feel left out as I brought my own piece and gave the recipe and site out to many. - 6/20/10

Would be helpful to see ounce size for "large" can of pineapple. Thanks! - 6/30/13

How can anyone call this a recipe! Recipes DO NOT start with a box of cake mix! They start with eggs, butter, flour and sugar in varying quantities. - 6/30/13

This recipe doesn't mention the interesting reaction you get when you mix the pineapple with the mix.
Got several compliments on this cake even when it was amongst "made from scratch" competition.
    Think I'll try lemon next. - 6/30/13

Dude, a box of cake mix + fruit isn't a recipe, and there's such a dramatic variation of nutritional breakdown in different pre-made angel food mixes that your nutritional info is pretty useless. Sorry. - 6/30/13

This is the second time making this cake, first time with Lemon Pie Filling, this time using crushed pineapple. Both were very good, but the texture of the pineapple one was better. Who knew something this simple could be so delicious! Will try the other flavor pie fillings soon. - 4/25/13

I made this cake last night. It was so easy and tasted delicious. I will make this again. I agree, it made the house smell great! - 5/17/09

Just an FYI-- a recipe is "a set of instructions for preparing a particular dish, including a list of the ingredients required". There are many recipes that include a boxed mixed or other prepared food. If you use a recipe calling for sausage (for example) it is not necessary to first get a hog. - 5/10/14

Made this into cupcakes for our family dinner. I had to spray my muffin tins as the ones with paper would NOT come out of the paper liner. Served with a 1/2 cup of frozen vanilla yogurt. This dessert was a winner! I didn't use any icing. - 5/20/12

This was awesome!! I made it into cupcakes and it made about 40! I made these for the superbowl and they were a big hit. Everyone loved them. I will definately make these again. It's a good sweet without the calories - 2/5/08

This was the best angel food cake we have ever had! I never thought about adding fruit. We made this one with pineapple but will try other fruits next time. Thank you! - 8/8/11

This is a great way to enjoy a sweet snack w/o a lot of guilt. The pineapple adds a little something extra :) - 1/7/09

This tasted almost like my mother's pineapple upside down cake that she used to make! It was delicious, easy to make, and a perfect dessert. I served it with one serving of FF Cool Whip and it was great!! - 3/10/07

I made this cake one time and to me it was a waste of angel food cake mix and a can of pineapple. Was too sticky. - 1/28/09

Easy to put together, smells great while it's baking, and tastes just as yummy! Thanks for a great lo-cal dessert! - 2/23/08
