Taco Pasta Casserole

1/2 onion, chopped fine1 28-ounce can chopped tomatoes with juice1 1 1/4-ounce package taco mix8 ounces very lean ground round, crumbled3 cups cooked ziti or penne pasta (about 6 ounces dried)1 cup nonfat cottage cheese1/2 cup nonfat shredded cheddar cheese
Heat over to 425 degrees.
Spray a 7" X 11" baking dish with cooking spray. In a medium bowl or food processor, blend onion, tomatoes, and taco mix.
Spread 1 cup of the tomato sauce on the bottom of the baking dish. Add the cooked pasta. Dot with the ricotta and then spread cheese with a knife.
Stir the ground beef pieces into the remaining tomato sauce and spoon over the cottage cheese. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese. Bake 25 - 30 minutes. Serve immediately.
