Ingredients
1 lb beef chuck cut into 3/4" cubes1T olive oil1-1/2C chopped onion2 cloves garlic, minced1-1/4 C merlot1/2 C ff chicken broth1 t dried thyme1/2 t salt1/4 t black pepper3C fresh mushrooms4 med. carrots cut into 3/4" pieces
Directions
brown 1/2 of meat in oil and set aside
brown remaining meat, onion & garlic
combine meats
layer mushrooms & carrots in crock pot
top with beef mixture
add wine, broth, thyme, salt & pepper
cook on high 5-6 hrs or low 10-12 hrs
serve with potatoes or noodles

    I love Beef Bourguignon and this recipe is fantastic. I get tje happy memories of a visit in my youth to a historic fur trader site and the fantastic stew that was served in a bread bowl. Most certainly it wasn't this type of stew, however this is my favourite type to make! - 12/13/10

    This was fantastic and SOOO much easier and less time consuming than Julia Child's version. Took me about 20 minutes to throw it together and then the crockpot did all the work. It was so nice to smell and very moist. - 8/15/10
