This was really good! My husband and I both enjoyed this! We made it the first time with lean ground pork made into a log shape and then the second time with the loin and left out all of the butter. It was really good both times and I didn't miss anything by leaving the butter out! Will make again! - 3/27/09

Good idea about the butter - I've cut it back too!

Pretty good. 6 hours on high was perhaps too much...meat was falling apart. This is a good thing, but makes it impossible to slice he pork. I used less ginger and no butter. Towards the end I thought it was missing something and added orange juice. Next time I'll add it at the start. - 9/23/12

This was very good. I did change a few things around from reading the other comments. I didn't add butter, and used less ginger. My applesauce was homemade with some honey in it and I used a little more than called for. It was falling apart tender when it was done and very good. - 6/8/10

i was wondering if i could use apple butter (jarred premade) in place of all the butter, and maybe a 1/2 tbsp ginger? - 10/4/09

This was amazing! I used my own homemade applesauce instead of store. Pork was moist and fell apart---a huge family hit!!! - 10/12/10

I reduced the amount of ginger in this because I was afraid it might be too much. It was a still little overpowering as far as ginger taste goes, but it was super moist and very flavorful. I will definitely make it again. I added yams to the crockpot and my husband raved about them. - 7/23/09

My family liked it... But I think it should be called ginger pork... No taste of the apple butter after product was complete... Very good, and I will make it again. - 2/26/09

Good thought - I think you could also reduce ginger so it doesn't overpower the apple-butter :)
