500g stewing steak or other chopped pieces of beef2 large onions, chopped3 cloves garlic, crushed2 tblsp olive oil 1 tblsp vinegar1 400g can tomatoes1 tsp ground cinnamonwater or leftover wine to cover
If using crockpot, place onions and garlic at the bottom, beef on top, then other ingedients over it all. Cover, and cook for about 8-10 hours. Can omit the olive oil entirely.
If using stovetop, soften the onions in the oil in a large pan, then brown the meat in the same pan. Add garlic and vinegar; boil for a minute, then add the rest of the ingredients. Cover and simmer gently for 3-4 hours, adding extra water if needed.
