Hurst's HamBeens 15 Bean Soup, morph

Ingredients
1 pound,4 oz - Bag of Hurst's HamBeens 15 Bean soup with seasoning packet1 cup Onion, chopped15 oz can diced tomatoes w/ basil, garlic & oregano1 tsp chili powder1 TBS lemon juice
Directions
Check beans for debris. Then Rinse Beans.
Place bag of beans [save the season packet no or later] & put in a pot of 3 quarts of water.
Bring to a rapid boil, reduce heat, cover, and continue boiling for 60 to 70 minutes. Stir occasionally to check for sticking & don't let boil dry.
After boiling for 60 minutes add other ingredients except the 7 season packet. If using Ham Hocks, add it here [not calculated in calories] Simmer 30 to 45 minutes.
Add contents of the ham seasoning packet during the last 2 minutes of cooking.

    I like to add a generous cup of celery and carrot (or anything else needing to be used up) but then it is wise to increase the water or broth beyond the two quarts called for on the bag's directions. - 6/10/09
