Ingredients
4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored, and quartered1 c. water1/4 c. light brown sugar1/2 tsp. cinnamondash nutmeg
Directions
Add apples and water to a large saucepan or dutch oven. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer 50 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Apples should break down to applesauce consistency on their own (may have to adjust cooking time). Add sugar and spices, mixing well. Bring back to a boil for 5 minutes. Let cool before serving.

Makes approximately 8 servings, about 1/2 cup each.

Double/triple batches work well and can be stored in freezer for future use.

This was a great fast recipe. It was a woderful way to finish using the fall apples. I did not use any sugar and it turned out great. - 11/28/12

Delicious! Just the recipe type of recipe I was looking for...simple and very few ingredients. I actually left the skins on and then used a Foley food mill for one batch. It was much easier and faster and still tasted wonderful. Thanks again! This is going in my cookbook! - 7/27/09
