Basic Fudge

Ingredients
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)1 bag chocolate chips (the 11-12 oz size)1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Butter pan (the size will determine thickness of fudge) I use a 9x13 pan for a double batch, or a 8x8 for a single pan.

In heavy saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Stir, heating thoroughly until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. (does NOT need to boil!) Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla, then pour mixture into buttered pan. Allow to cool completely before cutting into very small pieces.

Be creative! Mix in 1/2 cup of your favorite add-in, such as nuts or broken candy canes. In fact, I make this with butterscotch chips for fantastic butterscotch fudge! Mint chocolate chips work great, as do just about any other chip you can find!

Am going to play later with making maple fudge, using white chocolate chips and real maple syrup instead of the vanilla!
