Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix1 can cherrie pie filling (or canned cherries)1 Can crushed pineapple1 stick butter
Directions
Dump cherry pie filling and mostly drained crushed pineapple into a 9x13 cake pan (spray with cooking spray first). Mix slightly in pan. Sprinkle DRY cake mix to cover fruit. (This usually only takes about 2/3 a cake mix but the recipe is figured using the entire mix) Slice butter into thin peices and place onto of cake mix - spread out. Place in preheated oven (375) Until cake mix is bubby and golden in color. The butter and cake mix make a crunchy, delicious crust. Best if served warm with a little vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt.

I make this often but I substitute sugar free pineapple and pie filling, use the low sugar cake mix you can get (Pillsbury???), and I use reconstituted Butter Buds instead of butter...so yummie!!!!! - 8/7/07

I can't believe that the calorie count on this recipe is accurate. Dry cake mix, butter, cherry pie filling all have a lot of calories. - 7/17/07

I've been making this for years, now you can buy cherry pie filling with no added sugar. We love this with fat-free whipped topping. It is so easy and so yummy! - 12/11/12

I know this is delicious, I have made it before, but I did the calculations on the sparkpeople recipe builder and divided by 15 servings it came to 263 calories and 10 grams of fat. Not the worst dessert but not 125 calories. 3 stars because of the calories... - 7/15/12

Ahhhhhhhhh....childhood favorite. The only variation from our family favorite to this one was the addition of coconut & chopped pecans. It was yummo....:) - 11/28/11

OMG! I made this for a play date with my friends and their kids today. It was absolutely delicious! I too used sugar free pie filling and pineapple in its own juice, plus Blue Bonnet Light margarine. I will definitely make this again! - 11/12/11

I love this recipe. When I make it I melt the butter and drizzle it evenly onto the cake mix. Next time I am going to try it with the low sugar cake mix and sugar free pineapple as someone suggested. I think I could reduce the amount of butter a little too or use butter buds. - 10/26/10

I love this recipe but check your nutritionals, I ran this through the recipe calculator and came up with almost 300 calories for 15 servings/ - 10/17/07

Really yummy. I may not have let it cook long enough (30 mins in my oven). Maybe I should've let it cool before packing it up and taking it to our friends' cookout. It had totally shifted and sloshed around when I finally pulled it out. We had a good laugh. It was fantastic w/frozen yogurt! - 7/8/07

Yummy! I've seen this recipe before but had no idea it was so smart on the calories. I think I'll be making it more often now! It is really great when you can have it warm with ice cream / frozen yogurt. - 7/4/07

I haven't made this one for years, but I absolutely love this recipe. It brings back good memories and it is absolutely delish! We used to melt the butter and then pour it over the top of it instead of doing the slices. But either way is going to work! - 6/11/07

I have made this recipe before. Very easy and yummy! The "crust" gets crunchy. Best when served warm (even better with frozen yogurt). - 5/26/07

We have made this cake for years but added coconut and chopped pecans. That would be more calories I am sure. Great. - 5/24/07

Excellent! (I have made it without pineapple too for fewer calories; and for the total lean version, where is butter sans any calories whatsoever?!!) - 4/17/07
