Beef, sauerkraut & potato hotdish

Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained3 strips bacon, fried crisp & drained½ onion, chopped1 small can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained4-6 servings instant mashed potatoesdash nutmegdash saltdash pepper
Directions
Brown the meat and onion, draining fat. Crumble crisp bacon and stir in, along with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Layer the meat, then kraut, then mashed potatoes in the casserole dish and bake at 350° F, uncovered, until the potatoes begin to brown. Serve with a green salad and a good beer.

    This was really good. The husband loved it.

    I used ground turkey and russet potatoes instead of instant. Just boiled them for a few minutes until soft, then mash with skim milk and pepper and add to the top. Yum. - 10/31/11
