However using sugar free applesauce for butter, egg beaters,
skim milk and "splenda" rather than sugar will be great substitutes. I do this all the time; no one ever notices! - 1/14/09

I made this bread yesterday and subbed splenda for the sugar. The dates made the bread sweet so next time I will try to leave the "sugar" out or at least cut back on it. The bread was moist and delicious . - 4/4/18

I substituted for the butter, egg and milk. Turned out just fine. It makes a delicious snack! - 9/24/10

GGMOM06: The exchange for sugar/splenda is 6 tbs of Splenda for 3/4 cup of sugar. There are 2 teaspoons in each packet. 3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon 6 tablespoons = 18 teaspoons /2 (each packet) would bring you to 9 packets! Hope this helps! - 12/27/09

I loved the pinapple date bread I left out the dates not my favorite but with out the dates was like a dessert according to my husband. I also used a bundt pan cooked for 45 mins. If you didn't know it was bread you would think it was pinapple cake. - 1/14/09

I would use egg beaters and skim milk in this .Also sweet and low for the sugar. Going to give that a try! - 1/12/09
