AHA Spaghetti w/Zesty Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
1 tsp olive oil1 lg onion2 lg garlic cloves6 oz no-salt-added tomato paste2 Tbl minced fresh parsley2 tsp sugar1 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning1/2 tsp dried basil, crumbled1/8 tsp salt1/8 tsp crushed red pepper flakes1/4 tsp black pepper14.5 oz no-salt-added crushed tomatoes1 cup water15 oz tomato sauce (I changed this; their recipe calls for 8 oz, but we like this better)1/4 cup red wine1 med bay leaf==================================16 oz dried spaghetti1/2 cup parmesan cheese
Directions
Heat a medium saucepan over med-high heat. Pour the oil into the pan and swirl to coat bottom. Cook onion and garlic 2-3 min until onion is soft, stirring occasionally.

Whisk in tomato paste, parsley, sugar, herb seasoning, basil, sal, red pepper flakes, and black pepper. Reduce heat to med-low and cook 4 min, stirring often.

Stir in remaining sauce ingredients. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, partially covered, for 1 to 1 hour 30 min. Remove bay leaf.

Meanwhile, prepare spaghetti using package directions, omitting salt and oil. Drain well. Stir in parmesan.

To serve, spoon spaghetti onto plates and ladle sauce over. Serves 8 people.
