Mom's Brown Bread

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup Rasins1 1/2 cup Hot Water1/2 cup Sugar1T Stick Butter or Margarine1/4 cup Egg Substitute (or 1 egg)2 tsp. Baking Soda1/2 tsp Salt2 cups Flour1 T Vanilla1/2 cup walnuts, ground
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees
- Boil rasins and water together
- Let cool to tepid.
- Add butter and baking soda, stir in
- Add Sugar, beaten egg, salt and flour
- Add vanilla and nuts last.
- Bake 1 hour
- Cool in pan for 15 min then transfer to cooling racks

Makes 1 lg loaf or two small round tins
