Ingredients
1 pound lean beef stew meat1 can low-fat cream of mushroom soup1/2 cup water1 packet dry onion soup mix8 oz fresh mushrooms (whole or sliced, your preference)
Directions
Brown meat in skillet over med-high heat. You can skip this step to save time and the recipe will still be great. I just think it gives the meat more flavor and helps it hold together better. Place meat in 4 quart crock pot. Place mushrooms on top of beef. Combine soup, water and soup mix and pour over mushrooms and beef. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Tastes great over brown rice or hot cooked noodles (neither are included in calorie count).

Just made this for dinner tonight, when making it I realized that I didn't have onion soup mix, so I chopped up an onion, threw in some sherry (1/4c.) some worchestershire (few teaspoons) and some beef boullion concentrate. and its turned out excellently! Just had to share! Thanks!!

I've been making this for years as well. However, most times i throw in all kinds of veggies. Basically, this is my way of getting rid of left over veggies. Celery, onions, carrots, green beans, corn, etc. - 2/4/09

Loved it-used organic broth thickened with cornstarch in place of the soup for a healthier version - 3/3/09

Fantastic! We added a tablespoon of Worchestershire Sauce and 1/2 cup lowfat/fatfree sour cream (add sour cream just before serving) .... Yummy too !!!!! - 2/20/09

Yum! Yum! Yum! My family LOVED it... all five kids and a guest kid scarfed it up and asked me to make it again. I used Campbell's Healthy Request soup and served it over whole wheat egg noodles. We decided it would be great over a baked potato, too! - 2/17/09

I made this last night and my entire family liked it, even my husband that doesn't like anything healthy. My only complaint is that it was quite salty. The next time ai make it I'll use low sodium soup. Maybe that will make it a little less salty. - 2/24/09

EASY. I used top round steak (store special) then I added 1 1/2 c plain yogurt (like sour cream) and a pck of cream cheese. Makes 8+ servings after adding a pck (serves 8) of cooked whole wheat noodles. It's in my cookbook AND on my nutrition tracker. Lots of ways to dress this up!! THANKS!! - 3/2/09

Excellent and soooo easy to make!! Didn't brown the beef first and it still tasted great and cut the prep. time to a total of about 5 minutes! Husband loved it as well! - 2/22/09

I added a splash of worcestershire sauce when I browned the meat. Give it a little extra flavor. Will make again! - 2/19/09

This is a great recipe. I added garlic powder and extra mushrooms in the beginning, then mixed in low-fat sour cream 30 min. before serving. - 2/25/09

This is a good basic recipe, add vegies and a complete meal is at hand, we had it with carrots and brown rice. - 2/28/09

I don't use can soup, but mushroom bullion. I put a little low fat sour cream in the bowel when served. - 2/23/09

I thought that this recipe was waaaay too salty...and I'm a salt lover. I think it would be better to use half a pouch of onion soup - 3/7/09

This was delicious! I used London Broil (what I had in the freezer) and it shredded when it was done. I put it on top of noodles and veggies, the family couldn't get enough! - 4/11/09

I like using the soup mixture as a "gravy" on my potatos. I will probably make again, but add potatos and carrots to the crock pot before cooking. - 3/1/09

I fixed this last night for dinner and it was FANTABULOUS! I shall double the recipe next time so we have more leftovers, and we were thinking some diced onion would be good in it too. LOVED IT!!! - 2/21/09
