Ingredients
8oz package unsweetened dates, pitted1 cup raisins1 1/2 cups boiling water1 egg1 tsp vanilla1/4 cup walnuts2 cups whole wheat flour1 tsp baking soad1 tsp baking powder1 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp salt
Directions
Combine dates and raisins in medium bowl and pour boiling water over them. Let mnixture sit until it cools slightly. Pour cooled mixture into blender container. Add eggs and vanilla and blend until fruit is coarsely minced.

Stir together nuts and dry indredients in a separate bolw. Pour date/raisin mixture into flour mixture. Stir until well blended. Batter will be thick.

Spread batter evenly in prepared loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Cool on rack completely. Cut into 12 large pieces or 24 half pieces.

    This doesn't have the cake-like texture of regular date bread, but my kids both loved it! Wonderful for breakfast with some low-fat cream cheese. - 7/12/14
