Caramel Banana Pie

1 can sweetened condensed milk3 bananas1 pie crust 9 inch1 container whipped topping 12 oz1/4 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans) crumbled
Bake a pie crust. Let cool.
Boil the can of sweetened condensed milk (in the UNOPENED can) in enough water to cover it twice deep for 1 1/2 hours. This caramelizes the sugar in the sweetened condensed milk inside the can. Let the can cool.
Slice the bananas into the pie crust.
Open the sweetened condensed milk and spoon the caramelized milk over and among the bananas.
Top the pie with the whipped topping.
Sprinkle pecans or walnut crumbles over the topping.
Makes 8 servings.
