Guiltless Blondie Brownies

Ingredients
1/3 cup of butter, melted (take out those trans-fats by using butter!) 2 cups brown sugar (packed) 4 large egg whites2 cups of flour - 1 cup of regular, 1 cup whole wheat flour1 teaspoon baking soda1 teaspoon salt2 teaspoons vanilla2 - 2/3 cups of chocolate chips (one to mix and the other to sprinkle on top!)1/2 cup of pecans (if you can’t live without them)
Directions
Sift flour, brown sugar, soda and salt together. Add nuts to dry ingredients. Melt butter and add sugar and 1 teaspoon hot water. Add flour, a small amount at a time, mixing well. Mix in 2/3 cup chocolate chips. Spread in a 9 x 9 x 2 pan which has been greased. Sprinkle the other 2/3 cup of chocolate chips over the top.

Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.

    They were wonderful!!! I used butterscotch chips instead of chocolate because I am allergic to chocolate. I did notice that the recipe called for 2 cups packed brown sugar but the nutritional break down said it was Splenda brown sugar. That would make a big difference in the calorie count. - 9/24/10
