Red Lentil Dal (Vegan)

Ingredients
1 cup lentils2/3 onion chopped2-3tsp ginger peeled and minced1tsp canola oil1/2 tsp turmeric1/2 tsp cumin seed1-2T lemon juicesalt and garamsala to taste
Directions
Wash the lentils and bring to a boil with 3 cups of water. Stir and simmer unitl lentils are almost cooked. Add water to prevent sticking, but not too much. End product should be thick rather than soupy.
In a heavy pan, saute cumin seed in the oil, add chopped onions and minced ginger. Cook over low heat until onions are tender.
Stir into lentils.
When lentils are tender, remove from heat and stir in garamasala, lemon juice and salt
