Sugar-Free Vegan Baked Beans

1T tomato paste1T apple cider vinegar (or any mild vinegar)1T brown mustard1 dash liquid smoke (optional)1T raisins, chopped1c chopped onions (or to taste)2 cans white beans, drained
This recipe makes six servings that are a heaping half cup each.
1. Mix the first 5 ingredients together.
2. Add the mixture, onions, and beans to a medium-sized pot. Stir to moisten.
3. Heat the mixture to a boil (or to a "steam", if the mixture starts out on the dry side), stirring often so as not to let the bottom burn.
4. Cover, and simmer 5 minutes.
5. Remove the lid, and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
(For a wetter version, cook the entire 10 minutes covered instead of 5 and 5.)
