Ingredients
1 clove garlic 1 onion, finely chopped 1 large carrot, finely chopped 3 tablespoons oil 227g (˝ lb) minced beef Half 150g (5˝0Z) can of Roma Tomato Puree300ml (˝pt) stockSalt and pepper5 sheets Roma lasagne100g (30z) cheese57g (20z) butter600ml (1 pt) cheese sauce*
Directions
Makes 4-6 generous portions
In a heavy saucepan melt butter and oil. Add onion, garlic and carrot and cook for 5 minutes. Add mince and ham and cook until lightly browned. Stir in puree, stock, seasoning and wine. Simmer gently for 40 minutes. Grease a shallow ovenproof dish and cover with a layer of meat sauce. Add a layer of lasagne (ensure no overlapping and break to fit). Cover with another layer of meat sauce, a little white sauce and sprinkle with some cheese. Repeat the layers two or three times, finishing with a layer of white sauce. Top with remaining cheese. Bake in a moderately hot oven 200'C (400'F), Gas Mark 6 for approx. 30-35 minutes.
*CHEESE SAUCE Melt 57g (20l) Butter in a pan, add 3 tblsp. white flour and cook for 1 minute. Add 600ml (1 pt) Milk and bring to the boil, stirring all the time. Take off heat and add 100g grated cheese.
