Dahl Curried Split Peas

Ingredients
2 cups dried split peas5 cups water2 tsp tumeric1 tsp red cayenne pepper1 tbsp olive oil2 large onions2 tsp cumin, ground 1 tsp ground cloves1 tsp black pepper
Directions
Brown the oil and onions until soft. Add the cumin, cloves and black pepper and cook until browned. Place into pressure cooker, or just brown in the pressure cooker if your allows that.

Add the peas, water, tumeric and cayenne pepper. Set electronic pressure cooker to HIGH PRESSURE for 6-10 min. Check to make sure peas are soft and disintegrating. Cook a little longer if you need to. You could add salt to this but I never do.

Serve with some whole grain like wheat berries, brown rice, or bulgar. Can add some chutney and yogurt on top of each dish if you want. Count the extra calories for the grain and the toppings.

About 1 cup per serving. I can't remember if this makes 6 or 8 servings, but I'm calculating it as 6 servings.
