Directions
5 beef round steaksmustard: to spread a little on each piece of meatpickle I like to use already sliced pickles but you can use any pickle you like just make usre you cut in thinly5 slices of baconand enough water to cover the meatI like to use Bisto to make my gravy as I don't use beef broth in this recipe, just follow the directions on the box
Lay steaks on a flat surface. I use large tin foil on my counter. Pound the meat if too thick. Spread each with mustard, salt, and pepper. Place a piece of uncooked bacon lengthwise on meat, a pickle at one end of steak, sprinkle with onion. Roll steaks up jelly-roll fashion and secure with thread or toothpick. Heat a heavy saucepan, add the steak rolls, and brown them on all sides (about 15 mins). Pour in hot water Cover and simmer for 90 mins. Remove beef rolls, remove thread or
toothpicks, and arrange on a warm platter. Blend bisto with a small amount of cold water, stir into gravy, and bring to a boil until thick and bubbly. Correct seasoning and serve separately if you wish or pour over meat. Good with mashed potatoes.
