Ingredients
Directions
1 cup hazelnuts2 cups flour1 stick imperial or butter, chilledFILLING6 - 8 cups berries2 Tblspn flax meal (can be omitted)2 Tblspn cornstarch
toast hazelnuts at 350 degrees. rub off some of the skins. grind in food processor, careful not to make hazelnut butter. mix in flour and sugar, cut in butter with 2 knives until course crumbs form.
mix berries, sugar, and cornstarch. add a little OJ if too dry. should be kind of a pasty white consistency around berries, but liquid enough to completely coat the berries.
bake for 30 minutes at 450 degrees. filling should be bubbly. cool for at least 10 minutes. serve with vanilla frozen yogurt.
the recipe calls for 1/2 cup sugar in both the filling and the crust, but I halved it and I still think that it didn't need that much, especially when you serve it with the frozen yogurt. adds about 30 calories per serving to use 1/4 cup in each.
