One-pan pasta marinara with sausage

1 lb sausage, cooked and rinsed/drained. (can substitute ground turkey or ground beef)4 cups water1 can 15-16 ounce diced tomatoes1 can (15-16 ounce) pumpkin puree1 26 ounce can spaghetti sauce16 ounce pasta, uncooked
Brown the sausage (or ground beef or turkey) in a 1 inch skillet. Drain and rinse with hot water to remove excess fat from the meat. Pour in all remaining ingredients except pasta, stir together. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed (I sometimes add garlic powder or Italian seasoning). Bring to a boil, turn down heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 15 minutes or until pasta is tender. Makes approximately 12 one-cup servings.
