Broiled Spiced Fish Steaks

1 slightly heaped tbs garam masala1 onion, roughly chopped3 large cloves of garlic1-inch piece pf ginger, peeled & grated1/2 tsp hot chili powderjuice of one lime1 1/4 c plain yogurtsaltblack pepper4 fish steaks, about half pound each 1 inch thick2 tbs chopped fresh cilantroserve with slices of sweet tomato
1) Put garam masala, onion, garlic, and ginger into bowl of food processor and mix; add hot chili powder, lime juice and yogurt, and mix slowly on a low setting or with a spoon or spatula. Season with salt & pepper to taste.
2) Put fish steaks in shallow dish and cover completely in marinade, then set aside for as long as possible, 20 minutes at the least.
3) Heat the broiler. Place steaks on broiler pan and cook 8 minutes about 4 inches from the heat. Check for doneness, and give it a couple more minutes if neccesary.
4) Eat hot, topped with cilantro and with sweet tomato slices.
