Lentil Soup with Turkey Smoked Sausage

Ingredients
2 cups lentils1 cup chopped carrots1 cup chopped onions1 cup chopped celery1/2 cup Del monte Petite Diced Tomatoes8 cups Low Sodium chicken broth2 cloves garlic2 tsp ground cumin2 tsp fresh thyme or 1 tsp dried thyme1 pkg Turkey Smoked Sausage1 Tbsp olive oil
Directions
Heat olive oil on medium heat. Add onions, carrots and celery and cook until translucent. Add garlic and cumin and cook about a minute more. Cut sausage into 8 pieces, than split each piece lengthwise. Place lentils, sausage, cooked onion mixture and broth in a slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-6 hours. Or this will cook in a heavy dutch oven for about an hour.
