While the pasta is cooking, place the sauce pan(hey, even a skillet will do) on the front burner. Do not turn on yet.
Chop the one clove of garlic and place it in the sauce pan. Mix the chopped tomato and one half cup of chopped onions together and pour on top of the garlic. Mix roughly. Turn on the burner to medium. Pour the 1 tblspn of olive oil over the veggies and season with the basil, salt, italian seasoning, and pepper. Saute the veggies to personal taste. Pour one fourth cup of tomato sauce and stir. Set to the side.
Check on the pasta to make sure it is al dente. If if is, drain and place to the side. If not, check on it in in intervals of 30 seconds.
Mix the sauce into the pasta. Set aside until it is still warm, but not burning the mouth.
