1/2 cup butter or margarine1/2 cup brown sugar, packed1/2 cup quick cooking oatmeal1 cup all purpose flour1/4 cup wheat germ2 tsp. grated orange rind2 eggs1 cup whole blanched almonds1/4 cup raisins1/4 cup flaked coconut1/2 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
Preheat over to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar until well blended. Beat in the oatmeal, flour, wheat germ and orange rind. Pat mixture into an 8-inch pan. Combine eggs, almonds, raisins, coconut, chocolate, and brown sugar. Pour this mixture over the bottom layer and spread evenly. Bake for 35 minutes or until the almonds are golden brown. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 16 2-inch square bars.
