Ingredients
Directions
Flank Steak, 1 lb Prunes, dried, .25 cup, pitted Dates, .25 cup, pitted, chopped Raisins, .25 cup (not packed) Cider Vinegar, 2 tbsp Salt, .5 tsp Pepper, black, .5 tsp Saffron, .33 tsp *Flour, white, 3 cup Butter, unsalted, 8 tbsp Egg Yolk, 4 large Water, tap, .75 cup (8 fl oz)
For filling: mix together meat, fruit, vinegar, salt, pepper, and saffron. Set aside.
For dough: Mix flour, salt, and saffron together in a large bowl. Cut or rub the butter and eggs into the flour mixture until it forms fine crumbs. Add water a little at a time until it just sticks together - too much water will make the dough too soft and sticky. Cover with a towel and allow to rest for 30 minutes. Roll out on a well floured surface.
Cut circles (you should be able to get 10-12) out of the dough, fill with filling, wet edges, and seal. bake at about 350 for maybe 20 minutes (watch carefully!) until crust is golden. You can use the egg whites left over from making the dough to brush the top of the pasties to get a better appearance, but that wasn't calculated into the nutritional information.
