Chicken cabbage vegetable soup

Ingredients
3/4 head large cabbage or one medium cabbage choppedOne large carrot1 large onion chopped1.5 teaspoons olive oil6.25 cups homemade chicken broth - all fat skimmed off or canned chicken broth, low fat2 cups water13.25 oz whole wheat pasta (1 box)1/2 t garlic powder1/4 t pepper - to tasteadd any other vegetables - to taste
Directions
saute vegetables in oil until soft.
add broth and water to boiling
add pasta, cook 8 minutes
Serve. It is a hearty main dish soup.

Makes 9 cups - 1 cup is a serving -- for dinner may want 1.5 or two cups

    Made this tonight - added celery. Boiled chicken and veggies to make my own broth, and omitted oil and salt (added no salt seasoning, thai chili sauce). Delicious! - 1/30/11
