Ingredients
Directions
2.5 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder1/4 cup chopped Pecans1/4 cup Whole Wheat Pastry Flour1/4 teaspoon baking powder1/8 cup Apple Sauce-No Sugar Added or Natural1/8 cup Extra Light Olive Oil1/2 cup Whey Low Granular1 egg1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Put apple sauce, oil, and Whey Low in bowl and mix well. Add the egg and vanilla and mix very well.
Combine cocoa powder, pecans, WW pastry flower, and baking powder. Add to wet ingredients and mix gently.
Put batter into a small baking pan. I used a 6 inch round Corning Ware baking dish.
If you like brownies really moist and chewy, bake these for 20 minutes and begin checking them. You want the top to appear done. The center will not show clean if you test it with a toothpick. They will continue to cook after you remove them from the oven. If they are not done at 20 minutes, put in for another 5 and check again. My oven took 25 minutes.
If you like your brownies more like cake, bake for 25-30 minutes and bake until they test done in the center.
Ovens vary. Once you know how long it takes to bake them, make note of the time.
Makes 6 servings
You can use any sugar substitute for the Whey Low. The Whey Low adds 16 calories per brownie. The pecans add 24 calories per brownie. Total calories using Whey Low and pecans is 130 per brownie.
