Red Lentil Dal

Ingredients
Directions
1-1/2 cups red lentils1-2 jalapeno peppers, minced2 tsp tumeric8 cups water2 tbsp butter1 large onion, slicedsalt to taste
Rinse lentils.
Place beans in large pot with 8 cups of water.
Add jalapeno, tumeric and salt to taste.
Bring to boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for up to 2 hours.
Melt butter in non stick frying pan.
Add sliced onion and saute' over medium low heat until onions are very soft and brown.
Top lentils with onion.
Serve with tortillas or other flatbread. Also good with brown rice.
