15 Minute WW French Onion Sandwiches

8 (1 ounce) slices French breadVegetable cooking spray2 teaspoons Smart Balance buttery spread1 large yellow onion, very thinly sliced1.5 tablespoons brown sugar1 c (4 oz) shredded reduced-fat swiss cheese
1. Arrange bread slices on a baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes or until lightly toasted. Remove from oven, leave bread slices on baking sheet.
2. While bread toasts, coat a large saucepan with cooking spray; add margarine, and place over high heat until margarine melts. Add onion, cook, stirring constantly for 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Add brown sugar and cook for 5 minutes or until onion is tender and browned. Stir often.
3. Spoon onion mixture evenly on bread slices; top with cheese. Broil 5.5 inches from heat (with electric oven door partially open) 2 minutes. Serve immediately.
