15 bean soup with ham and spinach

Ingredients
8 cups water1 package assorted beans(dry) packet discarded1 lg onion chopped3 stalks celery chopped2-3 cloves garlic minced2 lg carrots sliced2 lg potatoes cubed4 cups smoked ham cubed1 can diced tomatoe in juice (14.5oz)2 cans chicken broth (14.5oz)1 tsp salt2 tsp pepper1 tsp garlic powderparsleyitalian seasoningbasilfresh spinach (optional)
Directions
Remove seasoning packet from beans and set aside. Soak beans overnight. Rinse and drain beans. Place all ingredients, except spinach in large kettle. Simmer at least 4 hours until beans are tender. Season to taste, use packet if desired. Just before serving add spinach and let heat through until wilted.
