CAUTION: THIS IS HIGH IN CARBS AND LOW IN FAT. Try some substitutes to IMPROVE this recipe...Especially for DIABETICS that are trying to keep their CARBS LOWER. - 3/9/13

If your really looking to cut calories and have a great tasting sloppy joe with no muss and no fuss. You can use this same recipe and substitute Swansons 98% F/F Chicken Breast in the can. for the beef. I have used the chicken and tofu, no beans with salsa and make my own sauce for sloppy Joes. - 12/9/12

"Slimmer"!? How do you figure? Especially as the bulk of the carbs come from only three ingredients -- the tomato puree, the bun or bread, and especially the beans. I'd try using about half that much puree at first, going to a FlatOut Foldover bun, and dropping the beans completely. - 12/26/14

switched up the recipe because of too many carbs and the high sodium! reduced those 2 animals and used fire roasted tomatoes, beans with no salt! - 8/27/20

I left the beans out and had it open face. I also had a serving of green beans with it. A lot less carbs since I am diabetic too. - 4/27/20
