Amy's Low-Sodium Chili

Ingredients
1 med. onion, chopped1 Tbsp. canola oil3-5 cloves garlic, chopped1 lb. lean ground beef2 cans no-salt diced tomatoes, fire roasted, undrained2 cans no-salt-added kidney beans, drained1 1/2 cups water3-4 Tbsp chili powder (or more to taste)2 teaspoons gound cumin2 teaspoons sugar1 tsp Mrs. Dash chipotle seasoning
Directions
In a large pot, cook chopped onion in canola oil over low to medium heat for a few minutes, or until translucent. Add chopped garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add ground beef and cook mixture for 5 to 10 minutes, or until beef is no longer pink. Spoon off fat to drain. Add remaining ingredients and cook on medium heat until bubbling. Reduce heat, cover, and cook on low to medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove lid and cook at least 15 additional minutes, stirring occasionally.
Makes approximately 6 bowl-size servings, 1 1/2 cups each.
