1 cup of urad ( whole black lentils - soaked overnight)2 tbsp kidney beans( soaked overnight)2 cups of low fat milk1 tsp cumin seeds1 cup finely chopped onions2 tsps ginger-garlic paste2 tsps chilli powder4 tbsp coriander powder3 cups tomoto pulp2 tsps sunflower oil1/2 tsp turmeric powder
This makes 7 portions - two ladles per portion
Soak the lentils and beans overnight
Pressure cook these for ten minutes until they are over done. Then whisk them until they are slightly creamy and mashed.
Put oil in a pan and fry cumin seeds until they begin to crackle. Then add onions and paste and saute until golden brown.
Add tomatoes and spices with half a cup of water and then simmer for ten minutes.
Add dahl and simmer until thick and creamy. Mix in the chopped coriander to garnish.
