Oatmeal Date Bars

Ingredients
1 cup chopped, pitted dates3/4 cup evaporated milk2 tbsp. sugar1 tsp. vanilla extract1/2 c. margarine1/2 c, packed light brown sugar1 c. flour3/4 c, quick cooking oats1/2 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. salt1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease an 8x8 inch pan.
Combine dates, milk, sugar and vanilla in saucepan and cook over medium heat 8 to 10 mins, stirring occasionally or until thickened. Remove from heat.
Beat butter and brown sugar until creamy. Add in flour, oats, salt, soda and cinnamon. With floured fingers press half of this dough mix in pan. Spread date filling over this and top with remaining dough.
Bake 20 to 25 mins or until golden brown, Best if served warm.
