Split Pea Soup

1 white onion1 red bell pepper1 T. canola oil8 C. chichken broth (99% fat free)2 C. split peas1.5 C. diced hamsalt and pepper to taste
Dice onion and sautee in oil in large soup pot. Add broth. Bring to a boil. Add peas and red peppers. Keep at a simmer until peas are broken down and soup has a velvety consistency. Stir in ham. Heat through. Season w/ salt and pepper to taste.
