1 lb lean ground beef1 onion, diced1 tbsp garlic, minced1 green bell pepper, diced1 tbsp Mexican Chili powder1 can light red kidney beans1 can diced tomatoes3 oz tomato paste1 tbsp salt1 tbsp black pepper1 tbsp garlic powder1 tsp sugar1 large bay leaf
Brown ground beef with onion, bell pepper and minced garlic. Drain excess fat. Add chili powder & cook 1 minute. Add liquid from kidney beans (reserve beans) and cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, pepper, garlic powder, sugar and bay leaf. Reduce to simmer for 30 mins. Add kidney beans and continue to simmer for 15 mins.
