Dried Cherry Almond Scones

3 C. all purpose flour3/4 c. gran. sugar1 T. baking powder1 lemon, zestedpinch salt1/2 t. cinnamon1 1/2 sticks cold butter, cut into pea-sized pieces1 c. dried cherries1/2 c. slivered almonds, toasted1 c. half & halfturbinado sugar for garnishing
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Combine dry ingredients and lemon zest. Add the butter and rub with fingertips into the dry stuff until a coarse meal texture. Add cherries and almonds, then the liquid a little at a time. Form dough into two equal sized rounds, about 1" thick. Cut each into 6 wedges. Transfer to parchment lined baking sheet and sprinkle each generously with turbinado sugar. Bake approx. 25 minutes, turning pan at halfway through.
