Cabbage, fresh, 500 grams, chopped *moong daal, soaked in water for 1 hr, 3 tbspSoybean Oil, 2 tbsp *Chilli Powder, 1.5 tsp Turmeric, ground, 0.5 tsp *asafoetida (hing), pinch Mustard seeds, 0.5 tspSalt, 1 tsp or as per tasteWater approx half cupCoriander for garnishing
Soak split moong daal in half cup water.( do not throw the water use in cooking later)
Heat oil in pan. Add mustard seeds, after these splutter lower the gas to min and add pinch of hing, turmeric powder and chilli powder.saute for 1 min .take care that chilli powder does not burn.
To the pan add soaked moong daal sans water . saute for 3-4 mins.
Now add chopped cabbage and saute.
Add water and cover the lid. cook on low till done.
I prefer aldente but for kids cook till daal softens.
Garnish with coriander.
Serving Size: makes 4 portions
