Purity Date Squares

Ingredients
***DATE FILLING***Combine in a saucepan:~ 2 cups chopped Dates (390g, +/-)~ 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar~ 1 cup Water(((Bring to a boil and cook until dates are soft enough to be mashed with a fork - about five minutes. The mixture should be the consistency of jam. Set aside to cool.)))***CRUMB MIXTURE***Pre-heat oven to 325F.Blend or sift together:~ 2 cups All-purpose (white) Flour~ 1 tsp. Baking Soda~ 1/4 tsp. SaltCut in:~ 2 cups ButterThen blend in:~ 2 cups lightly-packed Brown Sugar~ 4 cups Rolled Oats(((Press half of this mixture over bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Cover evenly with cooled Date Filling. Then cover with remaining Crumb Mixture and pat until smooth.)))
Directions
Follow instructions under the Ingredients List, and then:

1. Bake in preheated 325F oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or unitl a light golden brown.

2. Cool before cutting into 48 squares (6 rows long, and 8 rows wide).

3. Enjoy! :)
