Chocolatey chocolate chip applesauce cupcakes

Ingredients
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder3/4 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt1/4 cup margarine3/4 cup white sugar1 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 cup unsweetened applesauce1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). prepare cupcake tins with paper cups.
Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, using an electric mixer set on medium speed. Beat in the egg.
Blend in the vanilla extract. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the applesauce.
Pour the batter into 12 cupcake liners.
Sprinkle with the chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cupcake comes out clean.
Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
